Hello everyone!

I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that I was disappointed in the lack of a resolution to the pregnant pokemon game, so I'm starting it anew!

I've started with work to convert all female pokemon trainers to be pregnant, but I'll be honest, my ability to do this isn't that great.

If there is anyone capable of more high quality sprite work. Let me know and I'll be happy to work with you.

There are some severe restrictions on what we can do since my skills are limited when it comes to implementing this, but I think we can make it work. I'll be leaving some sprites I need help with and instructions on the limitations under this post.

I promise not to just vanish like the last guy!

The colors in the image are the only ones that can be used. No additional. The background color will be transparent in game.

Not sure we have any, but I'll leave that to OP.
I am willing to share my personal rules however, what follows are several of the guidelines I apply when doing one of these:

1. Respect the original palette. Don't bring in any colours of your own.
2. Respect colour usage. This means apply colours in a manner similar to how the sprite does. Is this colour used to shade and convey shape? Then you can too. Is this colour only used in outlines? Then for the outlines this shall be used. This also means shading ought be applied in a way that is fitting for the rest of the sprite.

In your example, you've decided to keep part of the shading on the belly as it was, it was supposed to signify the hip bone jutting outward slightly and her midriff catching some of that light. The belly now obscures the hip and the shape of the midriff is obviously not as it was - therefore the shading ought to reflect that. The light seems to originate from the left so the further, rightmost side should be a lot darker instead of just the top of the belly.

3. Respect clothing. Meaning have them be dressed in the exact same clothing they were already wearing, but make adjustments wherever needed in order to make things 'fit'.
4. In case of serious view obstruction of the belly, move elements around.
5. Keep the 'tone' of the sprite intact.
6. Don't go overboard with belly sizes.

These are just my rules and I have half a mind to just throw number 6 out of the window, but I was aiming for some kind of consistency here.

This is all really great! The main "rules for implementation" is that there is no change to the colors used. I am not skilled enough to edit the color pallettes in game, so they need to remain the same in order to go in without issue. That the only hard and fast issue aside from size when it comes getting the sprite in the game.

Your other stuff is a lot about aesthetics, which I agree is important to keep consistent and I agree with everything you had to say about them. I don't want to have just one or two characters with a hyper pregnancy, ya know?

I intend to create 2 editions. One with all female characters made pregnant, and one where the youngest characters are not. Teens of indeterminate age would still be made pregnant, but obvious children such as the tubers, picknicker, or schoolkids would not be.

Just want to ask a couple questions.

1. Will this end up being a ROM Hack when it is all finished?

2. Will there be any other changes to the game besides every female character being pregnant such as changes to dialogue that acknowledges their pregnancy?

3. Would certain pokemon like Gardevoir or other obviously female pokemon be made pregnant as well. I know Gen 3 doesn't have gender differences since those did not appear until Gen 4 but in the case of Gardevoir it might be possible to change the gender ratio to make its whole evolution line a female only pokemon since this was before Gallade existed.

Just wanted to get these questions out of my system.

Redid the first lady I did, found a way to make things work without adjusting her pose. Pool kid was weird because her bathing suit literally only has one shade in the original sprite.

Had some time to do some more, it's been easier to keep track of things like this. I've taken the ranger from >>6150 and breeder from >>6316 and modified them slightly. Hope that's okay.

If I'm missing any on this list let me know. Also OP should pay attention the legend here as I might need to update some sprites as I move along. I might notice mistakes or feel that the sprite is inconsistent with the others.

I have another question for the OP. What software/tool do you use to implement these sprites into the game?

I want to see if I can also mess around with the text so I can attempt to include custom dialogue for these pregnant trainers. No guarantee I'll actually be able to edit the dialogue but it wouldn't hurt to try.

The Flannery might be able to be used but I believe it has to be a 64x64 in size so we might have to adjust it a bit but I'll wait to see what the others say.

That Tuber is from FRLG which there is a chance that game could be done after this depending on what the others want so we will definitely save this in the event we do a FRLG version as well.

I honestly don't recognize the third one but it still looks good.

The back sprite of Hilda looks great but idk if we will even be able to do Gen 5 but I guess I'll save it if we do it someday.

Posted it more for inspiration really, same with the tuber and Hilda. I do have some more sprites to share if you'd like, but none that will be useable in a traditional R/S/E game.

Loli May sprite, just because it was easy to do. I have to say, this is the first creative thing I have done in MONTHS so I'm glad this thread gave me a little bit of the motivation I've been missing for a long time. A little worried that it's a loli pregnant sprite edit but FML you know?

Oh, and while I'm shit posting, have this sprite of pregnant female Brock. I could do more genderbent versions of male trainers if people are interested to replace the dudes with more pregnant chicks to the game. Or even potentially just replace all the dudes with new, different chicks but that's way more ambitious.

Text edits are not happening at least in this one. Maybe in the future if someone knows how to edit dialogue then we could do text edits as well. For now it is just the female trainer sprites that are going to be receiving edits.

So uh, I decided to edit the sprites of some of the major Gen 3 Pokémon (i.e. the starters' final stages, Gardevoir and the cover legendaries) as a sort of proof of concept for having preg Pokémon here.

I know OP said that the hack will only be changing the trainers (which I only remembered and saw after the fact), but I already put in way too much time and effort into these, so it'd kinda be a waste not to show here.

I don't really mind or care if these don't get used, figure I'd at least show them off if nothing else. As another has said for OP, take all the time you need for the rom hack, pretty sure we're all wiling to wait for it, it is a side project as you have said, so best to not burn yourself out or stress over it too much, just best of luck on it in any case really.

I don't know what OP will say about this but nice work. I personally would support this if only Gardevoir and other female only pokemon got this treatment but I feel like Groudon and Kyogre should be left out because it would look out of place. But again that is only my personal opinion but you did a good job with the pixel art.

The female only pokemon as of Gen 3 are the Nidoqueen line, Chansey & Blissey, Kangaskhan, Smoochum & Jynx, Miltank, Illumise, and Latias.

Glad you liked my work there, I appreciate it. I took quite awhile with these so it's reassuring to know they came out alright.

I respect your view there and I can understand where you're coming from. My kind of reasoning for picking these were mons specifically to do for the time being were;
- The starters are of course the first you'll be using and most likely viewing, so it's sort of reasonable to have them preg for the viewing pleasure at least.
- The legendaries I figured just made sense seeing as it is called Pregnant Emerald after all, so having Hoenn's main legendaries pregged up is fitting for it in my view.
- Gardevoir of course was just obvious to do. XD

But yeah I can totally understand your view of just having Gardevoir and other female only Pokémon be the ones edited, as it would make sense, but ya know, to each their own like they say.

I don't entirely know yet if I'll go edit some more sprites, like some of the Pokémon you've mentioned and/or the starters' middle stages among others, it's ultimately up to OP whether stuff like this gets put in or not, so we'll see on that I suppose.

(For those wondering, I got the sprites from https://www.dragonflycave.com/resources/sprite-generator, I realize spriter's resource might have been more convenient to get them from, but anyway, just in case anyone else is interested in these edits…)

Gender differences did not exist in Gen 3 but if we were doing a Gen 4 game then we technically could make preg edits for every pokemon and make it just part of the female gender differences.

This, from what OP has said this hack will mainly just be replacing the female trainer sprites with the pregnant ones, at most some dialogue changes too, but like OP has said only if they figure out how to do stuff like that. Plus they've said they'll be making 2 editions, one with all females pregnant and one excluding the youngest characters (thankfully).

Hello all. It's my first time posting.

I've never messed with ROMs before, but I figured it couldn't be that hard to implement a bunch of sprites other people had made. Decided to spend the day making this thing a reality.

Got to the point of having all of the trainer sprites implemented within about 6 hours, then spent another 5 trying to figure out why May's back sprite was permanently fucked. Very long story short, the palette on the pregnant sprite had the same colors as base, but in a different order. Fuck me.

The ROM with all the trainer sprites updated is too fucked to salvage, so now that I have May figured out, I'll be re-doing the other trainers, and then I'll upload the ROM here along with a write-up. Expect in an hour or two.

All female trainer sprites have been swapped for pregnant variants. No other changes have yet been implemented, but I would like to learn how to edit text and change pretty much all of the dialogue I can.

Backsprites are not currently pregnant, the spritesheet for them posted higher up in the thread doesn't have the full forward throw and is weirdly segmented. I've attached the .bmp's for the back sprite frames in the mega link, but I have nowhere near the artistic skill to edit them. If someone does, I should be able to implement them without too much hassle.

The worklog and sprite pointers spreadsheet in the links should allow anyone with some patience to repeat my work, if it's ever necessary. The spreadsheet in particular will be necessary if you want to update sprites without re-entering everything from scratch.

I think I can get some pregnant pokemon sprites working as well, but I've been slogging at this for 12 hours straight, so I'm taking a break for a bit. Hopefully someone enjoys this version as-is.

If that program makes text editing easier than messing around with XSE then you're a godsend. Also, I couldn't get the ROM to open with VisualBoy 1.7.2, but it opened just fine with VBA-M 2.1.4

I sort of left things where they were yesterday because I'd been going at it so long and I was tired, but I do plan to put more work into this. Realistic goals are:

-Make a no loli version for those who would prefer that
-Look into changing dialogue throughout the game
-Add pregnant back sprites
-Change trainer classes to all be female, depending on how well I can learn Advance Map
-Make some Pokemon sprites pregnant

Not going to happen in the next couple days because I have a busy life, but hopefully I'll have some progress to show off in the next few weeks.

Quick update:

Looked into Advance-Text, but it seems like a bust. Doesn't play nice with the ROM and apparently isn't great in the long run.

However, learning XSE was easier than I anticipated, and I've successfully figured out changing text, as well as changing trainer classes and sprites. Unless there's an outcry against it, I'll probably end up modifying most of the enemy trainers to be female classes with relevant dialogue.

All that being said, don't expect results any time soon. Family is visiting for a week so I'll probably get zero work done. Still hope that this breathes some life and interest back into this project, though.
