Here are 4 trainers to start and gauge interest!
The images must remain exactly as the size that I have posted them in terms of height and width. (Best to just edit these images at current size really)
The colors in the image are the only ones that can be used. No additional. The background color will be transparent in game.
I could give it a shot next time I have the time lol.
Was kinda sad that project went nowhere tbh
Ohh boy, time for some pixel art.
Sprite editing I can totally do
These look awesome! I might do something to try and give the magma girl her skirt back since she looks like she's got no pants though haha
Thank you very much!
I got a whole buch of sprites I played around with on a thread in /d a while ago. I'm pretty sure I have it saved somewhere. I'll dump them here as soon as I can find them
That is not the purpose of this thread. Please take something like that to the request thread on /d
Ok, thanks and sorry.
Amazing. Wish I had the skill to do something like that. Then again the GBA sprites have way less room to work in anyway.
Sorry for the delay, I found some old stuff. I don't know if they would be of use but I'll dump them here anyways.
These look great!
I'll work on getting them implemented. It might take a while since I need to put these in by hand, but these look great!!
Implementation was actually quicker than I thought!
In case anyone is wondering, I currently have 14/37
Ooh now that's a shiny pidgey if ever I saw one. Great stuff anon.
<3 <3 Amazing, my dude!
I like that some of them aren't just slapping a belly onto the existing sprite. A full rework makes a big difference.
Not sure we have any, but I'll leave that to OP.
I am willing to share my personal rules however, what follows are several of the guidelines I apply when doing one of these:
1. Respect the original palette. Don't bring in any colours of your own.
2. Respect colour usage. This means apply colours in a manner similar to how the sprite does. Is this colour used to shade and convey shape? Then you can too. Is this colour only used in outlines? Then for the outlines this shall be used. This also means shading ought be applied in a way that is fitting for the rest of the sprite.
In your example, you've decided to keep part of the shading on the belly as it was, it was supposed to signify the hip bone jutting outward slightly and her midriff catching some of that light. The belly now obscures the hip and the shape of the midriff is obviously not as it was - therefore the shading ought to reflect that. The light seems to originate from the left so the further, rightmost side should be a lot darker instead of just the top of the belly.
3. Respect clothing. Meaning have them be dressed in the exact same clothing they were already wearing, but make adjustments wherever needed in order to make things 'fit'.
4. In case of serious view obstruction of the belly, move elements around.
5. Keep the 'tone' of the sprite intact.
6. Don't go overboard with belly sizes.
These are just my rules and I have half a mind to just throw number 6 out of the window, but I was aiming for some kind of consistency here.
I was wondering though - how many of the female characters are we doing? Are we doing the very old ladies and super young ladies as well?
That actually is a very good question and we are still missing the Battle Girl, Interviewer F, Tuber F, Twins, Team Aqua Grunt F, Team Magma Admin Courtney, All 3 variations of Triathlete F, Hex Maniac, Cooltrainer F, Parasol Lady, Psychic F, Pokefan F, Leader Roxanne, Leader Flannery, Leader Winona, Leader Liza, Frontier Brain Anabel, and Frontier Brain Lucy. I might have missed some however.
and Picnicker F. That is one I missed and assuming I did not miss any others that would be 21 more that need edits.
This is all really great! The main "rules for implementation" is that there is no change to the colors used. I am not skilled enough to edit the color pallettes in game, so they need to remain the same in order to go in without issue. That the only hard and fast issue aside from size when it comes getting the sprite in the game.
Your other stuff is a lot about aesthetics, which I agree is important to keep consistent and I agree with everything you had to say about them. I don't want to have just one or two characters with a hyper pregnancy, ya know?>>6464
I intend to create 2 editions. One with all female characters made pregnant, and one where the youngest characters are not. Teens of indeterminate age would still be made pregnant, but obvious children such as the tubers, picknicker, or schoolkids would not be.
There are a few of these that I have done mock ups of, but I will admit that my spritework is not the best so if anyone has any others, I would be happy to see their take.
And I just remembered Elite Four Phoebe. How could I forget an E4 member. That makes 22 missing.
Just want to ask a couple questions.
1. Will this end up being a ROM Hack when it is all finished?
2. Will there be any other changes to the game besides every female character being pregnant such as changes to dialogue that acknowledges their pregnancy?
3. Would certain pokemon like Gardevoir or other obviously female pokemon be made pregnant as well. I know Gen 3 doesn't have gender differences since those did not appear until Gen 4 but in the case of Gardevoir it might be possible to change the gender ratio to make its whole evolution line a female only pokemon since this was before Gallade existed.
Just wanted to get these questions out of my system.
1. Basically. I suppose that would be an accurate term.
2. Not at the moment. I don't have the know-how for that. If I figure it out, I might make a change or two, but I don't want to promise anything I am not 100% sure of.
3. No. This is just for trainers. I am considering a moemon hack, but I don't have the sprite skill so I would need a whole team of people to update that haha
That's fair. I'm not exactly the best when it comes to doing these edits as you saw from Shelly but I'll keep track of which ones still need edits so I can at least help out in some way.
Had some time to do some more, it's been easier to keep track of things like this. I've taken the ranger from >>6150
and breeder from >>6316
and modified them slightly. Hope that's okay.
If I'm missing any on this list let me know. Also OP should pay attention the legend here as I might need to update some sprites as I move along. I might notice mistakes or feel that the sprite is inconsistent with the others.
Actually we might be able to use Green’s backsprite because technically Emerald is able to connect to FRLG so we can use it for consistency purposes.
Neato, I was looking at these for May as well and thought to perhaps do those as well. The running one seems a tad inconsistent with belly size varying rather wildly.
It would be when May is running during the opening sequence and the credits right? I haven’t played Gen 3 in a while so my memory is a little foggy.
To the best of my recollection, yes. If OP can implement these I don't mind cleaning up what we've got and doing the ones for May as well.
But why the children?
OP mentioned he'll make two versions already.
And all of this is amazing guys! Thanks so much for all your help! Every one of these sprites looks way better than my work. I’m putting them in whenever I see them come in.
If implementing them takes a lot of effort, leave it for now. As I said before I might enact some minor fixes. Could you get back to me on whether it's possible to do the back trainer frames and the opening sequence? I might be interested in doing those after I've finished the sheet.
I completely agree, we should all make sure each sprite is satisfactory before implementing them in case we have to make changes. It will just save a lot of time and headaches in the end.
It's really not that much effort, but if you foresee the need for tweaks and adjustments, I will hold off for sure. :)
Nice work, that Shelly is definitely better looking compared to mine.
Not a problem, that'll just be a palette swap.
I've done some more, chief.
So assuming none of the current sprites need any updates, we only need the last 9 as well as May's back sprite to make pregnant edits for. This is really coming together nicely.
I have another question for the OP. What software/tool do you use to implement these sprites into the game?
I want to see if I can also mess around with the text so I can attempt to include custom dialogue for these pregnant trainers. No guarantee I'll actually be able to edit the dialogue but it wouldn't hurt to try.
Hey, that's my sprite! Cool.
I was thinking of offering to help with this, but my motivation to do… anything really has been in the pits. >>6483
Glad the sprite gave you some inspiration. Good luck with the project!
While I'm here, here's a few more sprites I did. Feel free to use them for inspiration, or edit them to fit your needs.
The Flannery might be able to be used but I believe it has to be a 64x64 in size so we might have to adjust it a bit but I'll wait to see what the others say.
That Tuber is from FRLG which there is a chance that game could be done after this depending on what the others want so we will definitely save this in the event we do a FRLG version as well.
I honestly don't recognize the third one but it still looks good.
The back sprite of Hilda looks great but idk if we will even be able to do Gen 5 but I guess I'll save it if we do it someday.>>6558
This is a very nice sprite gif and thank you for sharing :)
Also do you have anything else saved from the old thread? Just in case we can use it for the project
Nothing useable for this project. Just some random sprite edits, the witch is actually a friends character who I made a sprite edit for. Posted it more for inspiration really, same with the tuber and Hilda. I do have some more sprites to share if you'd like, but none that will be useable in a traditional R/S/E game.
But making it a 64x64 was easy so I went ahead and did that for you.
This is all great, can't wait for it to be ready and playable.
That reminds me because I now have another question for the OP. How will this be distributed when it is all finished to anyone that wants to play?
This May looks great but it also has to be 64x64 and I'm pretty sure that its only the female characters that will be getting pregnant edits according to the OP but she will be the ultimate judge of what goes in.
Anon from the spritesheet here, pardon my absence from this weekend, I had stuff going on. I'll be back here Monday with an update.>>6607
I've entertained the thought of doing genderbent ones as well (and have done a couple!) but figured the dialogue would never reflect this.
Here's to you, chief.
Looks great like usual. I also just realized that the only way we will be able to see the frontier brains sprites in game is actually having to go though the work of battling in their facilities in the battle frontier.
That's all of them, will be doing these as well >>6515
as well as the back trainer sprites after this. Might still do some minor corrections.
Just checking in, It's been almost a week since the last post.
Sorry. I got fairly busy.
My intent is to implement everything we have so far this weekend. :)
I believe we have everything except for May's Emerald backsprite, We can probably skip May's RS backsprite and Green's backsprite since they can only be seen in multiplayer. I hope that our editor is ok because it has been over 2 weeks since their last post.
I figured that this would have been the hardest one to make an edit off due to the fact that it doesn’t give you very much room to work with but you did an amazing job regardless of that. Thank you for assisting us with this project, we could not have done it with out you :)
This is everything! Well technically we could edit May’s sprite where she is on her bike in the intro and the credits but that might be too difficult to do. Anyways now we got to wait for OP to implement these and share once she is finished implementing.
Now this is everything for real this time :)
Thanks again and now we wait for OP to do her magic.
This is gonna be fantastic. I'm hoping we get some text edits, too. Overall really excited for this.
Text edits are not happening at least in this one. Maybe in the future if someone knows how to edit dialogue then we could do text edits as well. For now it is just the female trainer sprites that are going to be receiving edits.
h y p e
That's alright. But if there's any for the next build, I'd be glad to help write some.
it's been a while. any updates?
Every sprite is finished, all we are waiting for now is OP to share the finished product. I do not know how long it will take but hopefully we will get it soon.
I believe that the site was down for several hours earlier and in case that ever happens again I saved all the important sprites in the event that the site crashes again so we don’t risk losing all the progress we made.
Life has been pretty crazy for me. This is a personal side project for me, after all, so it's unfortunately low on my priorities. Don't worry. I still will get this out soonish.
Take as much time as you need, it is not like your on a time limit or anything. I'd rather see something good then something rushed.
So uh, I decided to edit the sprites of some of the major Gen 3 Pokémon (i.e. the starters' final stages, Gardevoir and the cover legendaries) as a sort of proof of concept for having preg Pokémon here.
I know OP said that the hack will only be changing the trainers (which I only remembered and saw after the fact), but I already put in way too much time and effort into these, so it'd kinda be a waste not to show here.
I don't really mind or care if these don't get used, figure I'd at least show them off if nothing else. As another has said for OP, take all the time you need for the rom hack, pretty sure we're all wiling to wait for it, it is a side project as you have said, so best to not burn yourself out or stress over it too much, just best of luck on it in any case really.
Now Im imagining a Moemon but instead its Moemom mod.
I don't know what OP will say about this but nice work. I personally would support this if only Gardevoir and other female only pokemon got this treatment but I feel like Groudon and Kyogre should be left out because it would look out of place. But again that is only my personal opinion but you did a good job with the pixel art.
The female only pokemon as of Gen 3 are the Nidoqueen line, Chansey & Blissey, Kangaskhan, Smoochum & Jynx, Miltank, Illumise, and Latias.
I guess it could work with Milotic too
I considered it at one point, but as someone who edits sprites very poorly, it didn't feel right to pitch that and expect other people to do the work.
Glad you liked my work there, I appreciate it. I took quite awhile with these so it's reassuring to know they came out alright.
I respect your view there and I can understand where you're coming from. My kind of reasoning for picking these were mons specifically to do for the time being were;
- The starters are of course the first you'll be using and most likely viewing, so it's sort of reasonable to have them preg for the viewing pleasure at least.
- The legendaries I figured just made sense seeing as it is called Pregnant Emerald after all, so having Hoenn's main legendaries pregged up is fitting for it in my view.
- Gardevoir of course was just obvious to do. XD
But yeah I can totally understand your view of just having Gardevoir and other female only Pokémon be the ones edited, as it would make sense, but ya know, to each their own like they say.
I don't entirely know yet if I'll go edit some more sprites, like some of the Pokémon you've mentioned and/or the starters' middle stages among others, it's ultimately up to OP whether stuff like this gets put in or not, so we'll see on that I suppose.
(For those wondering, I got the sprites from https://www.dragonflycave.com/resources/sprite-generator
, I realize spriter's resource might have been more convenient to get them from, but anyway, just in case anyone else is interested in these edits…)
I guess that's fair. I will save those edits just in case you decide to take this project farther once your done with the female trainer sprites. Again take your time :)
Gender differences did not exist in Gen 3 but if we were doing a Gen 4 game then we technically could make preg edits for every pokemon and make it just part of the female gender differences.
True there, would probably be easier then having to backport gender differences into the Gen 3 engine solely for the sake of pregnancy fetish, but hey, probably best we wait till Pregnant Emerald's all finished up before we begin planning for "Pregnant Platinum" if that ever goes through.
I'm just bumping this thread
really hope this isn't dead
Well everything is here already, all it needs is to be put together.
This, from what OP has said this hack will mainly just be replacing the female trainer sprites with the pregnant ones, at most some dialogue changes too, but like OP has said only if they figure out how to do stuff like that. Plus they've said they'll be making 2 editions, one with all females pregnant and one excluding the youngest characters (thankfully).>>8046
The OP has said that this is a personal side project for them and as such is low on their priorities cause of irl life stuff, though for the time being it seems they do still intend to get this out at some point.
I am so sorry for the radio silence. I am having a little trouble with an indexing error so I may have to redo a lot of the work. Hopefully I'll have progress soon.
It's fine and take as much time as you need. Glad to hear from you again.
Yeah as the anon above said, take as long as you need to on the rom hack, no need to rush or overwork yourself on it. Great to hear you're still going ahead with the project.
And here we go, Expectant Emerald 0.3.https://mega.nz/folder/KMolnIDB#zGsRbGz2_rnZzNseQjQi0ghttps://pastebin.com/m5kbwR6H
← Worklog here
All female trainer sprites have been swapped for pregnant variants. No other changes have yet been implemented, but I would like to learn how to edit text and change pretty much all of the dialogue I can.
Backsprites are not currently pregnant, the spritesheet for them posted higher up in the thread doesn't have the full forward throw and is weirdly segmented. I've attached the .bmp's for the back sprite frames in the mega link, but I have nowhere near the artistic skill to edit them. If someone does, I should be able to implement them without too much hassle.
The worklog and sprite pointers spreadsheet in the links should allow anyone with some patience to repeat my work, if it's ever necessary. The spreadsheet in particular will be necessary if you want to update sprites without re-entering everything from scratch.
I think I can get some pregnant pokemon sprites working as well, but I've been slogging at this for 12 hours straight, so I'm taking a break for a bit. Hopefully someone enjoys this version as-is.
It failed to load on Visualboy emulator for me but no$gba worked. Jsyk.
Huh, strange. I did all my testing on Visualboy Advance, but I also don't have a ton of experience with emulators in general.
Honestly I just might have a bad install or something. Works great otherwise. I used to dabble in rom editing and I used a text editor program for some stuff. Here: https://www.pokemonhacking.com/gba-hack-tools/advance-text/
So what program is needed to run this? I'm incredibly inexperienced with emulator stuff lol
If that program makes text editing easier than messing around with XSE then you're a godsend. Also, I couldn't get the ROM to open with VisualBoy 1.7.2, but it opened just fine with VBA-M 2.1.4>>8365http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/gba/vboyadvance.html
Download VBA-M 2.1.4 from this page and extract it, should be a single .exe
Then, download Expectant Emerald 0.3.gba from the Mega link up above. Open VBA-M, go to File, Open, and choose the .gba you just downloaded.
I got it to work on the mGBA emulator and will try it on my GBA flashcart later. Thank you so much :)
Never thought to put it on a flash cart, let us know how it goes!
I sort of left things where they were yesterday because I'd been going at it so long and I was tired, but I do plan to put more work into this. Realistic goals are:
-Make a no loli version for those who would prefer that
-Look into changing dialogue throughout the game
-Add pregnant back sprites
-Change trainer classes to all be female, depending on how well I can learn Advance Map
-Make some Pokemon sprites pregnant
Not going to happen in the next couple days because I have a busy life, but hopefully I'll have some progress to show off in the next few weeks.
Just tested it on the flashcart and there are no problems whatsoever that I noticed. I just played until I reached Petalburg. Will try another test later to see if it can actually communicate to my actual copy of Emerald.

Good to know and I feel like the only male trainers that should stay are important characters like the gym leaders. Thank you for assisting in this project.
